What is an HOA board of directors?

A board of directors in a community association is a group of individuals elected by the community's property owners to oversee the operation and management of the association.

In the case of new communities, the board may be selected by the community’s developer for a specific time period, and then they will be elected by the membership.

The board is responsible for enforcing the association’s rules and regulations, maintaining common areas, managing finances, and making decisions that impact the community as a whole.

Board members are typically volunteers who serve for a specific term. The length of the term is outlined in the community’s bylaws.
